Katie Fields named Carthage tourism director

The City of Carthage is pleased to announce Katie Fields as the City's Tourism Director. Katie is a graduate from Missouri Southern State University where she holds both a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Management, and Human Resources, and a Master's Degree in Management in Human Resources. 

Katie most recently worked for the Missouri Small Business Development Center at MSSU. During her time in this role as a Business Consultant, she worked closely with small businesses, local Chambers of Commerce, and other stakeholders in the community while promoting community and economic development. Fields was also an instructor for the MSSU Entrepreneurship Department in the subjects of human resources, management, and strategic planning. 








She also currently serves as the Executive Director for the Aspire Scholarship Program, a local non-profit in Jasper and Newton Counties that promotes single parents to attend college.
 
For Carthage, Katie will be responsible for the management and operating functions of the Tourism Department for the promotion and marketing of the City of Carthage as a tourism destination. She will also represent the City in working with regional tourism stakeholders, Chamber leaders, and other community leaders in support of local festivals, events, attractions, facilities, and community organization events. Katie's first day with the City of Carthage will be July 18, 2022.
