Despite her tears, Jasper Police arrest Golden City woman on drug charge

On Monday, February 6th, 2023 at 2:50 pm, A Jasper PD officer initiated contact with a white female in the parking lot of Pete's who was observed driving a Blue 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe.

The vehicle pulled into Pete's from Mercer St. and pulled up to a gas pump. The driver and the vehicle were at the gas pump from 2:16pm hours until I made contact at 2:50 pm. It appeared the driver observed the patrol vehicle and was not going to pull out of the parking lot.

The female identified herself as April Shannon (Golden City). While speaking to Shannon, she stated she was on probation/parole, yet was crying and saying she was “scared” of police, which is a common technique subjects will do when involved in criminal activity, the purpose is to set an officer on their heels.

Shannon was asked if she had anything illegal on her in which she started crying and dropped her head, then stated yes. She pulled a glass pipe with a white powder residue from her pant pocket. She stated she had the pipe because she was going to confront her boyfriend about it.

A search of the vehicle was conducted. The following was located:

*Silver electronic weighing scale

 
*Pink pouch containing a plastic baggy with a small amount of a white powder substance which later field tested positive for methamphetamine.

Shannon was questioned in reference to the items found in the vehicle. She admitted to possessing the items but once again said it was to confront her boyfriend. She admitted to using methamphetamine with her boyfriend two days ago.

Shannon was taken into custody into custody without incident for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
