Cherokee County Sheriff's Office recovers stolen ATV, arrests two

On October 8th, 2024, Cherokee County Sheriff's Deputies responded to the reported theft of a four-wheeler from a storage container southwest of Columbus.

As a result of their investigation, Deputies developed a suspect and went to his residence northwest of Columbus on Thursday, October 10th. Upon their arrival, they discovered the suspect and another individual riding the four-wheeler.

The suspects fled westbound into a wooded area, before abandoning the four-wheeler and continuing to flee.






 


Through coordination with the Labette County Sheriff's Office, the suspects were located at a residence in Oswego, where they were taken into custody.

James Jameson, 27, of Columbus, is being held in the Cherokee County Jail on allegations of Possessing Stolen Property and Felony Interference with Law Enforcement.

Whitney Polk, 34, of Oswego, is being held in the Cherokee County Jail on allegations of Felony Interference with Law Enforcement.
