(From Neosho Arts Council)Neosho Arts Council will be hosting their annual Big Spring Park Free Concert Series this May and June. Patrons will have the opportunity to enjoy three evenings of live music flowing through the park against a backdrop of lush greenery, spring flowers, and rushing spring water.
“We are thrilled to invite the community to enjoy live music from our historic Grecian stage in Big Spring Park,” said Sarah Serio, president of Neosho Arts Council. “For almost a century our community has enjoyed music from this stage and we are happy to continue the tradition.”
This year’s first concert will be May 9 featuring cello driven sound by Auralai. Her unique brand of cello-pop brings a breath of fresh air to the contemporary music scene.
“These concerts are ideal for picking up a meal to-go at one of our downtown restaurants and enjoying a picnic in the park with live music,” Serio said.
Nationally touring musician Molly Healey will perform on May 29. She’s known as a one-woman band that brings a whole orchestra with her due to her unique ability to blend looping music, live string instruments, and intimate vocals together.
Healey began her solo career in 2015 after buying a simple looping pedal. There she found a passion for blending strings and voice into atmospheric and experimental orchestral folk songs.
“Molly was recently selected as a Missouri Arts Council featured artist,” Serio added. The program strives to showcase the variety of creative talent Missouri has to offer.
The arts council will wrap up their series on June 21 with a celebration Make Music Day featuring the Americana/Indie Rock group, Dandelion Heart. The group strives to capture the beauty in simplicity with penetrating harmonies while featuring a blend of folk, bluegrass, rock, and indie sounds.
“These concerts are open for everyone to attend. We hope families will join us and help nurture the next generation of music lovers,” Serio said. Big Spring Park features a playground a wheelchair accessible swing set.
“We will be holding a sidewalk chalk fun draw during each concert,” Serio added. “Music possesses the ability to spark creativity and promote relaxation, especially when intertwined with art.”
The performance will begin at 6:30pm on the south side of Big Spring Park (309 W. Spring Street) in Neosho. There is no cost to attend. Attendees should bring a lawn chair or blanket with them. In case of rain the performance will move indoors. You can learn more about each performance by visiting neoshoarts.net.
