Joplin woman killed crashing into tree

A Joplin woman was killed in a one-vehicle crash 2:16 p.m. today on Route P five miles south of Joplin.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2013 Kia Four Door driven by a 60-year-old Joplin woman traveled off the left side of the road, overturned and struck a tree.

Newton County Deputy Coroner Jerry Deems pronounced the woman dead at the scene.

The fatality was the 32nd this year for Highway Patrol Troop D.
