Community Blood Center of the Ozarks to celebrate new donor center with ribbon cutting

Community Blood Center of the Ozarks (CBCO), the sole supplier of blood, platelets, and plasma to 45 area hospitals, is moving locations to a newly remodeled Joplin donor center. In partnership with the Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce, CBCO will host a Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Monday, May 12, at 2:00 PM located at 2318 E. 32nd Street, Suite D, Joplin.

Joplin Mayor Keenan Cortez will present a special proclamation recognizing CBCO’s 30 years of lifesaving service and dedication to the Joplin community. Following the ceremony, attendees are invited to enjoy light refreshments, facility tours, and CBCO swag. The event is open to the public, including community partners, businesses, and neighbors.

The new location for the donor center, set to open Monday, April 28, offers a larger, more accessible space designed to enhance the donor experience and support CBCO’s mission of ensuring a strong local blood supply. The current donor center inside NorthPark Mall (101 N. Rangeline Road) closed after its final day of operation on Tuesday, April 22.

New Joplin Donor Center Hours:Monday – Thursday: 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM
Friday: 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM

"The new Joplin Donor Center reflects CBCO’s unwavering commitment to providing local hospitals with a strong and stable blood supply," said Anthony Roberts, CBCO Executive Director. "By expanding into a larger facility, we are investing in the future of blood donation for the Joplin community and ensuring that our generous donors have a comfortable, convenient space to give the gift of life."

To celebrate the grand opening of the new Joplin Donor Center, CBCO is hosting a week-long celebration with special daily giveaways generously donated by area Joplin businesses, Monday through Friday, while supplies last.

Monday, May 12: Joplin Outlaws - Two free tickets to May 22, 2025, game for each donor

Tuesday, May 13: Tropical Smoothie Café - One free smoothie voucher for each donor
Wednesday, May 14: Bricktown Brewery - A $10 gift card for each donor
Thursday, May 15: The Big Biscuit - A $5 gift card for each donor
Friday, May 16: Joplin Greenhouse & The Coffee Shop - A $5 gift card for each donor
