Drug enforcement search finds heroin, handgun in Joplin apartment

On 05/10/2016 at approximately 1700 hrs Detectives with Ozarks Drug Enforcement Team served a Search warrant at 627 Byers Apt#1 in Joplin Missouri Jasper County. 

Detectives located suspected heroin inside the residence and a loaded handgun. 

The resident of the Apartment was Don C. Whitfield ,a 54-year-old black male. Charges are pending for felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute against Whitfield.
