As part of the continued efforts in keeping the patrons informed, the East Newton R-VI Schools administration will provide monthly information concerning Board of Education meetings.
A recap of the May, 2016 regular meetings is as follows:
Recognitions: Patriot Pride Award – Rachel McCool Triway patron.
Public Comments: None
The Board approved the Consent Agenda, including the previous month Board minutes, monthly bills, let bids for propane.
Program Evaluations: Transportation, Library Media Services, Federal Programs – Title, ESL, and Migrant, and Title Coordinator
Reports:
Financial Report, Enrollment
Enrollment & Attendance for the end of March. Enrollment was 1,342 K-12, Triway campus with 380, Granby campus with 518, and the High School with 444. Overall attendance percentage was 94.4
Under Old Business, 2nd Reading of MSBA policies GCBDA and GDBDA was moved to the June 30 Board meeting.

In respect to New Business, the Board approved L.J. Hart and company as municipal bond underwriting for the $4,000,000 general obligation bonds. The Board then approved a resolution for the issuance and sale of those bonds. The Board approved how the district will handle overpayment of tax revenues received from Newton County in railroad and utility taxes. The District agreed to have Newton County short-pay the overage in next year’s tax payment from railroad and utility tax revenue.
The Board requested an RFP for small/large animal lab that will be constructed at the high school Ag Facility. The Board approved DECA trip to New York for December. The Board approved adding Mr. Todd McCrackin’s name to an additional bank account. Mr. McCrackin presented preliminary information on 2016-2017 budget. In final Board action, the Board had discussions regarding ISS as a discipline for student misconduct.
The Board then went into Executive Session pursuant to RSMo. 610.021: Paragraph 3 Employees
The next regular meeting is scheduled for Thursday June 30 at 7:00 p.m. at Central Office.
