Police arrest Joplin man on auto theft, drug charges

On May 15, 2026, a Joplin Police Officer, near 1600 E. 7th St., stopped a gray 1993 Chrysler New Yorker for improper display of license plate. 

The driver, Starsky D. Love, 40, Joplin, was arrested for a Jasper County Failure to Appear-warrant, ($20,000. Probation violation-Possession of Methamphetamine) and Driving While Revoked. 

The officer determined that the vehicle was stolen in Joplin between November and December of 2015. Love was arrested for Tampering with a Motor Vehicle 1st Degree. 

A search of the vehicle led to further arrests for Love; Possession of an Imitation Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of Marijuana. Charges were submitted to the Jasper County Prosecutor.

  1. Possession of an imitation controlled substance? Come on. You got him on enough legitimate charges, why make the system look like it's rigged? Oh right....it is.
