Police discover body in search for missing Joplin woman

Willanna Anita Dunn was entered as missing on May 30 at 3:30 PM. (Dunn was last heard from Saturday, May 28, at 4PM)

In response to the missing person report, investigators have followed over fifty leads and conducted a number of interviews.

As a result of the investigation, on Wednesday, June 1st , at 1:40 PM, the Joplin SWAT-Team and Joplin Detectives, with the assistance of The Joplin Fire Department, Missouri State Highway Patrol and Four State Search and Rescue joined together to conduct an area search.

The Joplin Police Department regrets to announce that late in the evening on June 1st we located a yet-to-be-identified body, on private property, north of Belle Center Road and east of North Pump Lane. The investigation continues.

The Joplin Police Department is currently in need of the public’s assistance in locating Willanna Anita Dunn who is reported as missing.

Dunn is 61 years old and is approximately 5’2” and 120 pounds. She has past medical issues and her family is concerned about her well-being.

Her vehicle is accounted for and her method of travel is unknown at this time. She was last heard from on 5-28- 2016 at about 4pm. It is unknown what she was last wearing before her disappearance. She resides in the area of 11th and Jackson.

Her driver’s license photo is attached and anyone who has any information is urged to contact the Joplin Police Department at 417-623-3131
