American Red Cross Swim Lessons Available at Ewert Family Aquatic Center

The Joplin Parks & Recreation Department is offering morning and evening swim lessons throughout the summer, with the first session starting in June.

The American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim classes provide instruction to help swimmers of all ages and abilities develop their swimming and water safety skills, while offering students a positive and encouraging learning experience.

The Parent and Child Aquatics class helps young children, from six months to three years of age, get ready to swim by emphasizing fun in the water. The Preschool Aquatics class, for children age’s four to five, will help children develop survival skills and foundational swimming concepts. Children six years of age and older will learn aquatic and safety skills in the Learn-to-Swim class.

Three sessions, with either day or evening hours, will be offered throughout the summer at the Ewert Family Aquatic Center located at 7th and Murphy Boulevard. Class times and schedule can be found on joplinparks.org, the Joplin Parks and Recreation Facebook page, or by calling the Joplin Athletic Complex at 417-625-4750.

Schifferdecker Golf Course Introducing Family Fun Nights

“We want to encourage families to unplug and get outside, and try new experiences.” said Daryn Buholt, golf professional at Schifferdecker Golf Course. “We are seeing more and more kids getting interested in golf and thought this would be a great way to get the entire family involved.”

Family Fun Nights will be offered on June 18, July 16, and August 20, with tee times starting at 5 p.m. Price for one adult and child with cart is $10; and two adults and two children with two carts is $20.
