Officers from the Carthage Police Department had the great honor of going to Dallas, Texas Tuesday night to attend the funeral for Dallas Police Department Senior Corporal Lorne Ahrens on Wednesday. The attendance at the funeral was massive. Officers from all across the nation were there. Our officers were very thankful to able to attend the funeral to show support for our brothers and sisters at the Dallas Police Department and for the Ahrens family. More officers from our department are leaving late tonight to attend the funeral for Dallas Police Department Officer Michael Krol which is tomorrow.
Our officers who attended the funeral mentioned several Dallas residents who approached them at a Dallas gas station, at the hotel they stayed at, and other residents later at a Dallas restaurant, that expressed their support and appreciation for the officers. The officers were very appreciative for the warm welcome they received in Dallas.
We support the Dallas Police Department and express our deepest condolences for the loss of their officers. We also want to express our deepest condolences to the families of the fallen officers.
We would like to thank everyone for the extra support we have received lately. It means a great deal to our officers to know that the community supports and appreciates them. We would like to share a few photos that were taken while in Dallas on Wednesday.
