Oronogo man charged with DWI, assault after injury accident

An Oronogo man was charged with driving while intoxicated and felony vehicular assault following a one-vehicle accident 9:55 p.m. Saturday on Oak Road, a half mile east of Asbury.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2003 Ford F-250 driven by Donald R. Alexander, 49, Oronogo, failed to negotiate a curve, skidded out of control, ran off the roadway, struck several trees and overturned.

A passenger, Penny L. Alexander, 44, Oronogo, was treated for moderate injuries at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin.

In addition to DWI and assault, Alexander was charged with felony leaving the scene of an accident.
