Kevin Greim has been named the new Associate Vice President for Development at Missouri Southern State University.
The new position – which will focus on the day-to-day operations of the Missouri Southern Foundation and Office of Development, as well as the Alumni Association – marks a homecoming for Greim, who has a long history with the university.
“I’m honored and excited to be returning to Missouri Southern,” he said. “I truly valued my time here in athletics and am excited to take on this new challenge in the Development office.”
He served as Associate Athletics Director-External Operations from March 1999 through April 2012. In addition to selling and maintaining corporate partnerships and contracts, he was familiar to Lions fans for his play-by-play commentary on radio broadcasts.
In 2012, he was named Development Officer-Major Gifts in order to identify and cultivate university donors. Projects included the preliminary preparations for the new campus baseball stadium, as well as chairing the committee to determine direction and provide funding for the Lion Icon statue.
While at Missouri Southern, he helped to organize two post-tornado fundraisers involving Division I basketball exhibition games, generating more than $150,000. He also played a key role in developing a new athletics logo, and assisted with the restructuring of the Lionbacker Booster Club.
In September 2012, he was hired as Senior Director of Athletics Development for Missouri State University in Springfield. As director he established the Gridiron Club to supplement football coaching salaries, oversaw the Bill O’Neill Way football stadium project and provided oversight of the Central Circle giving society – which saw a dramatic increase in giving between 2013-15.
“Kevin has demonstrated expertise and leadership in the field of fundraising, and we’re pleased to have him with us again,” said Dr. Brad Hodson, Missouri Southern’s executive vice president. “Having someone of Kevin’s talents will help the university strengthen its position in the area of private philanthropy.”
Greim said he looks forward to contributing to the advancement of Missouri Southern by reaching out to graduates and potential donors.
“Our challenge will be to engage and involve as many alums and supporters of MSSU as possible,” he said. “We want to tell them the story of the good things happening at Southern and let them know how they can help current and future Lions by making this university an even better place to get an education.”
