Public meeting set to discuss widening of 32nd Street

(From the City of Joplin)

Widening 32nd Street from Schifferdecker Avenue to Central City Road is one of the Capital Improvements projects passed by Joplin voters in 2014, and City officials are seeking input on the design of this project.

An Open House Public Meeting will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, August 2 in the Parish Center of St. Mary’s Catholic Church located at 3035 S. Central City Road. The closest parking to the Parish Center is on the east side of the building. Residents are encouraged to attend this meeting and take the opportunity to discuss project details with the designers who will be finishing the plans.

At this phase of the project, City staff would like hear from the public during this opportunity to view the plans that have been developed by Olsson and Associates, the city’s engineering/design consultant. Initial meetings to introduce the project property owners along 32nd Street between Schifferdecker Avenue and Central City Road were held last spring. City officials discussed the 32nd Street project and collected input into the design from those owners along this corridor.

If citizens are unable to attend this public meeting, they may also contact the engineering department to make other arrangements at 624-0820 ext. 536.
