Jasper Police arrest Golden City man on meth, auto theft charges

(From the Jasper Police Department)

On Friday, September 17th, 2021 at 1121 hours, a Jssper officer made contact with a subject occupying a red Chrysler Town and in the parking lot of Judy's Convenience Store in reference to suspicious vehicle check.

Contact was made with Bryan Wingert (Golden City). The officer questioned Wingert in reference to what he was doing at the store. He advised he was trying to get gas money to buy gas.

I questioned Wingert about the van in which he said he borrowed it from a person in Joplin, but could not give the person's name.

Wingert said he didn't have a driver's license and stated that he'd just walk away from the vehicle if the officer would let him go. At this point, the officer began to believe the vehicle could possibly stolen. The license plate and the vehicle were confirmed stolen.

Wingert admitted to the officer that he had meth in the van.

A search of the vehicle was conducted. A plastic baggy with a small amount of a white crystal substance believed to be meth was located.

Wingert was arrested for tampering with a m/v, receiving stolen property and possession of a controlled substance.

Note: Wingert is presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law
