Teen driver hits, seriously injures Joplin bicyclists

 Two Joplin residents were injured when a car slammed into two bicycles 6:37 p.m. Wednesday on River Road, one mile south of Joplin.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2008 Ford Focus driven by a 17-year-old Joplin girl turned into the eastbound lane hitting two Trek bicycles ridden by Gregory Wall, 55, and Steven L. Mahuren, 60, both of Joplin.

Wall and Mahuren were taken to Mercy Hospital, Joplin, and Freeman West Hospital, Joplin, respectively, with serious injuries.
