Jasper Police: We're sick of teens' sneaking out, vandalism and disrespectful behavior

(From the Joplin Police Department)

Anybody with property damage such as mail boxes, and/or thefts from cars, yards, etc., please contact Chief Karr @ 417-483-6261 and we’ll get you added to the report.

We have suspects identified and are currently setting up arrangements to speak with the kids and parents.
Basically a group of teens arranged to sneak out last night via Snapchat and after meeting up, several mailboxes were damaged, as well as items stolen from yards.

If you don’t know it by now parents, Snapchat is a great way to plan these types of nights and keep track of each other’s locations as a group so it’s extra organized.

Sad thing is, one of the victims had to deal with this nonsense after being dealt a big loss to their family over the weekend.

We have 3 phones in our possession that parents have asked us to hang onto unto the teens can “earn them back” by regaining trust, chores, working and repaying for damages, etc. We will gladly hold onto any juvenile phones until the parent feels the kids have earned them back. Maybe some of this sneaking out, vandalizing and disrespectful behavior will stop.

We’ve had to deal with TOO MANY juvenile offenses this past few months. It’s got to stop. We’re fed up with it and so are the citizens in town.
