Lane reductions, traffic delays to begin on I-44, I-49 near Joplin

Lane Reductions, Traffic Delays on I-49 & I-44 Near Joplin for Pavement Repairs Beginning Sept. 8

Jasper/Newton County – Drivers can expect traffic reduced to one lane and delays at two locations on I-49 and one location on I-44 for pavement repair and high friction treatment near Joplin beginning September 8, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.

Here is what drivers can expect during the project:

I-49

Where:
Southbound I-49 between Shoal Creek and Missouri Route 175 (Gateway Drive)
Southbound I-49 from near Iris Road (Exit 30) to a point approximately one mile south








When: 7 a.m.-7 p.m., Sept. 8-17, all lanes OPEN nights and weekends

What: Contractor crews making pavement repairs and laying high-friction treatment, replacing guardrail

Traffic Impacts
Traffic reduced to one lane where crews are working
Expect delays during high traffic volume times
Speed limit reduced to 60 mph through work zone
Signs and message boards will alert drivers approaching work zone
No signed detour
Drivers urged to find alternate routes

I-44

Where: Both westbound I-44 lanes between Mile Marker 16.2 (Chapel Road) and eastbound Missouri Route 66-to-eastbound I-44 flyover ramp (Mile Marker 15.2)








When: ‘Round the clock from 7 p.m., Monday, Sept. 20 until 7 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 23

What: Contractor crews making pavement repairs and laying high-friction treatment

Traffic Impacts

Eastbound I-44-to-eastbound Missouri Route 66 (Exit 15) CLOSED for duration of work
Traffic reduced to one lane where crews are working
Expect delays during high traffic volumes
Speed limit reduced to 60 mph through work zone
Signs and message boards will alert drivers approaching work zone
No signed detour
Drivers urged to find alternate routes

Weather and/or construction delays could alter the work schedule.

Project Cost - $6.9 million
