Rocky Comfort bicyclist struck, killed by car, driver arrested for leaving the scene

A Rocky Comfort bicyclist was killed 9:25 p.m. Monday on MO 76, one mile east of Rocky Comfort.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 1994 Ford Escort driven by Marshall D. Martin, 23, Rocky Comfort, struck Charles T. Peterson, 50, Rocky Comfort, who was riding a bicycle in the roadway.

Barry County Coroner Jerry Swearingen pronounced Peterson dead at the scene at 9:37 p.m.








Martin was charged with felony leaving the scene of an accident.

The fatality was the 24th this year for Highway Patrol Troop D.
