A Jasper man was killed in a one-vehicle accident 7:40 p.m. Saturday on I-49, two miles south of Sheldon.
According to the Highway Patrol report, Wayne E. Sprenkle, 57, driving a 1998 Harley Davidson Ultra Glide, swerved to avoid an item in the roadway, lost control and overturned, with Sprenkle being ejected.
Sprenkle and the motorcycle skidded across the roadway and came to rest in the passing lane.
Dr. Clinton Loy of Cox Barton County Hospital pronounced Sprenkle dead at the scene at 8:02 p.m.
The fatality was the 50th this year for Highway Patrol Troop D.
