Activities planned for JOMO Pridefest 2023

JOMO Pride Inc. is proud to present the highly-anticipated JOMO Pridefest 2023, set to take place from September 8th to 10th. 

Since hosting its inaugural Pride event, JOMO Pridefest has rapidly grown to become one of the largest Pride celebrations in the four states, drawing thousands of attendees each year. 

In 2022, over 2,000 people united at the vibrant street festival, embracing diversity, spreading love, and fostering an inclusive community. This year, we invite you to join us for an unforgettable record-breaking 3-day weekend filled with exciting events and incredible experiences, all free to the public.








Highlighted Events at JOMO Pridefest 2023:

Queer Artist Showcase at Spiva Art: JOMO Pride & JOMO EQ is thrilled to partner with the renowned Spiva Art in Cornell Center for an extraordinary showcase of queer art and culture. Explore an art collection that highlights the rich diversity and unique perspectives within the LGBTQ+ community. This collaboration aims to celebrate the creative spirit and foster understanding and appreciation for queer art.

Inaugural Pride Parade: Be part of history as we host our very first Pride Parade on Friday night, illuminating the streets of downtown Joplin with love, acceptance, and pride. Join the joyous procession and experience the electric atmosphere as we march together, celebrating the LGBTQ+ community and its allies.

Missouri's Largest Pride Flag: As a symbol of unity and pride, we proudly present Missouri's largest Pride flag, stretching a whopping 100 ft, a vibrant testament to the LGBTQ+ community's resilience and strength. The flag stands tall as a powerful visual representation of inclusivity, acceptance, and love for all and will be unveiled during the Inaugural JOMO Pride Parade on September 8th.






 

Pride Concert Series: Prepare to be dazzled by the first-ever Pride Concert Series, headlined by the sensational Thea Austin, the iconic voice behind the 2000's hit song "Rhythm of a Dancer." Thea Austin's electrifying performance will captivate audiences, delivering an unforgettable night of music and celebration.

Drag Stars Extravaganza: Get ready for an extraordinary lineup of international, regional and local drag performances all weekend! Witness the mesmerizing performances by Kennedy Davenport from RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars, Maxi Glamour from Boulet Brothers Dragula, and KC Sunshine, the reigning Mr. Gay America. These drag icons will bring their unmatched talent, charisma, and fabulousness to JOMO Pridefest, creating a truly spectacular show throughout Pride weekend.

JOMO Pridefest is a celebration of diversity, equality, and unity, serving as a platform to foster connections, create lasting memories, and empower individuals to be their authentic selves.     2. There's plenty to do in Joplin that weekend, if this isn't your thing there is the Celebrate Joplin festival happening the same weekend with concerts and vendors and lots going on. 🤷

  2. Maybe one of the local brewers or wineries can put their faces on a can or bottle so they will all feel more welcome.

    We want to make sure they don’t feel marginalized since they are only having a parade.
