Granby man killed, four suffer serious injuries in crash near Pierce City

A Granby man was killed and four people injured in a one-vehicle accident 2:50 a.m. today on Wallaby Road three miles west of Pierce City.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2012 Chevrolet Cruise driven by Trenton R. Wilson, 21, Granby, traveled over railroad tracks causing Wilson to lose control and the vehicle to travel off the right side of the roadway and down an embankment where it struck the ground and overturned.








Newton County Coroner Dale Owen pronounced Wilson dead at 4:30 a.m.

Four passengers, a 12-year-old Pierce City girl, a 17-year-old Monett boy, Bryeton L. Hendricks, 18, Purdy, and McKenzie L. Cooley, 19, Pierce City, were treated for serious injuries at Mercy Joplin.

The fatality was the 83rd this year for Highway Patrol Troop D.
