(From the Galena Police Department)On Saturday December 23, 2023, Officers with the Galena Police Department received a request to Check the Welfare of an elderly lady living at 1103 Joplin Street in Galena, KS. The person requesting the Welfare check also said there was a person with an active Warrant out of Cherokee County residing at the residence.
When the officers arrived, they began talking with the elderly lady, and based on the information received walked through the residence to ensure it was secure.
While conducting a walk-through, Officers encountered two individuals with active felony warrants. Officers also noticed drugs and paraphernalia laying in plain view.
Officers secured the residence, placed both individuals in custody, transported them to the Cherokee County Jail then applied for a search warrant of the residence.
Once the search warrant was approved officers located additional drugs and drug paraphernalia where the two individuals were located.
Arrested on scene were Scott Burelson DOB: 06/25/1993 for a warrant out of Ottawa County OK, and Brandi King DOB: 09/10/1984 for warrants out of Cherokee County, KS. Additional charges are being requested through the Cherokee County Attorney’s Office for both individuals for Possession of Methamphetamine, Marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.
