(From the Parsons Police Department)On December 26, 2023, at approximately 11:30 pm, Parsons Police Officers were called to a residence in the 30th block of Birch Ave for a report of a burglary in progress.
When Officers arrived at the house, they made contact with Grace Harmon and a juvenile. Officers conducted a safety sweep of the residence, and no burglar was located. Officers noticed paraphernalia laying around the residence.
Officers spoke to the homeowner and consent was given to search the residence. Officers located paraphernalia related to the distribution of marijuana as well as the use of marijuana. Officers also found vape pens with THC cartridges and over 340 grams of Marijuana. This equates to almost ¾ of a pound of Marijuana.
Grace Anne Harmon, 21 of Parsons, was arrested and the following charges are being sent to Labette County Attorney's office for review; Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Use), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Distribution), Possession of THC, Distribution of Marijuana, and no drug Tax stamp.
A juvenile male was also arrested at the residence for possession of Marijuana and Possession of Paraphernalia. He was later released to his parents.
Police Chief Robert Spinks said, "this is a great example of looking beyond the original call for service and really investigating everything. I applaud the hard work of these officers that were able to bring another drug dealer to answer for their crimes and an excellent way to end the year."
This continues to be an on-going investigation and citizens are encouraged to "See It, Hear It, Report It." All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
