Grove man arrested for Southwest City car theft, also wanted on Cherokee Nation child abuse charge

(From the McDonald County Sheriff's Office)

On March 3rd 2024, The Southwest City Police Department received a report of a stolen vehicle that occurred outside the city limits.

Southwest City Police took a detailed initial report and transferred the case to the McDonald County Sheriff's Office.

The alleged suspect, Samuel L. Huddleston of Grove, Oklahoma, was also wanted by Delaware County (OK.) Authorities for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and the Cherokee Nation for child abuse, assault with a deadly weapon, endangering while eluding police, possession of a controlled substance, and obstruction. Mr. Huddleston had been evading authorities since 2023.

Working tirelessly on leads over the course of the last twenty four hours and in conjunction with the Delaware County Sheriff's Office, Ottawa County Sheriff's Office, Cherokee Nation Marshal's Service, Jay Police Department, and Fairland Police Department, Samuel Huddleston was arrested during the evening of March 5th 2024 on his outstanding felony warrants and the stolen vehicle from the Southwest City area was recovered.

A probable cause statement requesting charges against Samuel Huddleston for his criminal acts in McDonald County will be submitted to the McDonald County Prosecuting Attorney.

The capture of this fugitive and recovery of a stolen vehicle shows what can happen when different agencies work together for a common purpose.
