(From KGCS0The Missouri Southern State University Department of Communication inducted three media professionals into the Regional Media Hall of Fame in November. Their contributions to the community will be the focus of the next Newsmakers program.
Individual documentary-style feature packages detail the careers of Joplin Globe News Reporter Debby Woodin, Zimmer radio news and talk show host Ben Woolery also known on-the-air as Steve Scott and KSNF/KODE television ad salesman John Emrich. The Regional Media Hall of Fame event has been held since 2006. It began as a way to recognize the individuals or groups who have made outstanding contributions to the media industry over the past two decades or more.
Newsmakers is airing nightly at 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. beginning January 18 on KGCS-TV and will air at 5:30 a.m. Saturday, January 24 on KOAM-TV. It is also posted on the station’s YouTube channel: KGCS – Missouri Southern State University.
KGCS-TV programming can be seen on channel 21 and is also available on regional cable television systems such as Sparklight, Mediacom and Optimum Internet. The station operates as a service of the Department of Communication at Missouri Southern State University.
