(From KGCS)Partnership is a key word when it comes to the efforts of the United Way of Southwest Missouri and Southeast Kansas. It’s efforts to support those non-profit organizations and programs that meet the needs of the community are the focus of the next Newsmakers program.
Interim Executive Director Amy DeArmond along with Michelle Lester director of the Care Partner Network and Tammy Nyachira, director of Community Impact explain the coordination of services in areas of education, health and financial stability. They share how the Care Partner Network helps reduce overlap in services and promotes efficiency, and how programs, like Give 5, create opportunity for volunteers to also impact lives and change.
DeArmond discusses fundraising through partnerships like one with the Missouri Southern State University Department of Communication and the Cardinals Caravan January 17, 2026, where a raffle for Cardinals tickets and memorabilia supports the local United Way.
Newsmakers is airing nightly at 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. beginning January 11 on KGCS-TV and will air at 5:30 a.m. Saturday, January 17 on KOAM-TV. It is also posted on the station’s YouTube channel: KGCS – Missouri Southern State University.
KGCS-TV programming can be seen on channel 21 and is also available on regional cable television systems such as Sparklight, Mediacom and Optimum Internet. The station operates as a service of the Department of Communication at Missouri Southern State University.
