Deputy Will Weiser is one of the agencies’ most pro-active deputies. During 2025 he led the department with 116 arrests, with the next closest deputy at 61 arrests. He presented 47 probable cause cases to the prosecutor’s office; the next closest deputy was 25 PC cases.
But Deputy Weiser isn’t just proactively making arrest, he is empathetic in his service to the community. In August he came across a man and two small children living in their car at a truck stop. Deputy Weiser bought the family food and water, made arrangements for them to get shelter and gathered donations for clothing for the kids. He visited the kids the next day at a local shelter and brought them the donated items.
In December, while assisting another deputy at a car stop, he recognized one of the passengers was suffering from what appeared to be a drug overdose. Acting quickly, Deputy Weiser administered Narcan which resulted in the passenger becoming responsive until EMS could arrive and treat her further. Medical staff later confirmed that Deputy Weiser’s actions save the passengers’ life.
Deputy Weiser’s proactive work, willingness to assist those in need and his alert actions are in keeping with the highest degree of service that are the hallmarks of the Newton County Sheriff’s Office.
