Snow, sleet, freezing rain expected in Joplin area Thursday

ACCUMULATING WINTER PRECIPITATION AND MUCH COLDER LATE THIS WEEK...

ACCUMULATING WINTER PRECIPITATION AND THE COLDEST AIRMASS OF THE
SEASON WILL IMPACT THE MISSOURI OZARKS AND SOUTHEASTERN KANSAS
THURSDAY INTO FRIDAY...WITH VERY COLD TEMPERATURES CONTINUING
THROUGH THE WEEKEND.

A MIX OF SNOW...SLEET AND FREEZING RAIN WILL OVERSPREAD THE AREA
THURSDAY MORNING AND CONTINUE THROUGH THE DAY. LIGHT SNOW WILL
CONTINUE INTO THURSDAY EVENING BEFORE ENDING FROM THE
WEST. ANOTHER ROUND OF SNOW IS EXPECTED TO DEVELOP ON FRIDAY
ACROSS THE REGION...RESULTING IN ADDITIONAL ACCUMULATIONS.

WHILE PRECIPITATION TYPE AND EXACT AMOUNTS REMAIN UNCERTAIN...LIGHT
TO MODERATE ACCUMULATIONS OF WINTRY PRECIPITATION ARE EXPECTED.
HIGHER ACCUMULATIONS ARE EXPECTED TO OCCUR GENERALLY ALONG AND
SOUTH OF THE INTERSTATE 44 CORRIDOR. TRAVEL ACROSS THE REGION
COULD BE IMPACTED BEGINNING THURSDAY MORNING THROUGH FRIDAY.

VERY COLD TEMPERATURES CAN BE EXPECTED THIS WEEKEND WITH ANOTHER
CHANCE OF WINTER PRECIPITATION ON SUNDAY. LOWS TEMPERATURES FRIDAY
NIGHT WILL FALL INTO THE SINGLE DIGITS WITH WIND CHILL VALUES
BELOW ZERO. HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL REMAIN BELOW FREEZING THROUGH
THE WEEKEND.
