In honor of the City of Joplin’s 141st Birthday, Brad Belk, Executive Director of the Joplin Museum Complex is working with City officials to host a public birthday party featuring some of our younger citizens. Students from the West Central Elementary will provide the program by reading some of the historical essays they have written about Joplin.
The birthday party will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 24 in the Main Lobby of Joplin City Hall, 602 South Main Street. The public is invited to attend.
“We are turning the program over to the students,” said Belk. “Ideally, we want to enrich our kids with the history of Joplin, while also celebrating our City’s birthday, so we combined the two for this fun event. We hope the public will join us.”
Birthday cake will be served during the event.
Joplin was incorporated by the state of Missouri as a city on March 23, 1873.
