(From Southern News Service)
The Missouri Southern Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) will be collecting shoes from March 3 to April 1 to donate to Soles4Souls.
A global not-for-profit institution, Soles4Souls is dedicated to fighting the devastating impact and perpetuation of poverty. The shoes will be sent to children and adults in need in Haiti.
Donation boxes for new or gently worn shoes will be located on the Missouri Southern State University campus in Hearnes Hall, Webster Hall, Billingsly Student Center, Plaster Hall and Spiva Library. Shoes can also be dropped off in Room 361 of Webster Hall. Monetary donations will also be accepted to offset the cost of shipping once collection has ended.
In 2013, PRSSA collected more than 300 pairs of shoes to send to Haiti, and their goal is to exceed the previous year’s number by collecting 400 pairs.
Soles4Souls has provided shoes to people in need in 129 different countries, including over a million pairs of shoes to the orphanages in Central and South America. Footwear can help eliminate the spread of diseases through the foot as well as help children obtain an education – as many schools have footwear requirements to attend.
