The City of Joplin reminds residents with ice storm damaged tree limbs there are four days remaining to bring the debris to the City’s drop-off site.
The drop off site, located at 1702 North Schifferdecker Avenue, will be open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, March 14 and 15, the follo9wing weekend of March 21 and March 22. The drop-off site is located six tenths of a mile north of Belle Center Road on the west side of Schifferdecker Avenue. This free drop-off service is for Joplin residents only. Professional contractors will be allowed to dump, but must bring documentation of their Joplin residential customers’ name, address and phone number.
Following March 22, residents have these options:
Joplin residents that have trash service through the city’s hauler, Republic (formerly Allied) Services may place tree limbs out with their trash on the regular trash pick-up day. Limbs must be cut to a maximum of four (4) feet and bundled. Bundles shall be no heavier than 50 pounds. The diameter of each tree limb shall be no larger than four (4) inches.
Tree limbs may be taken to the Republic Services Transfer Station on Old Route 66, in Galena, Kansas. This service is free for Joplin residents and landlords on the City’s residential trash service, during the regular program hours of Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. They are closed from 11:30 to noon for lunch and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Joplin residents and landlords must also bring a copy of their residential wastewater and trash bill AND matching identification.
