Newsmakers program to focus on impending Joplin Police Chief change

The upcoming Newsmakers interview program looks into the change of the leadership position of the Joplin Police Department. Police Chief Lane Roberts retires March 28, 2014 and the current Assistant Police Chief Jason Burns has been named as the incoming chief.
Host Judy Stiles talks with both chiefs about the “changing of the guard” at the police department. Other topics of interest, including the public safety training facility, communications and the crime rate were also discussed.
Airdates planned for next week on KGCS include:
Sunday, March 9 – 5:30 p.m.
Monday, March 10 – 5:30 p.m.
Wednesday, March 12 – 5:30 and 9:30 p.m.
Thursday, March 13 – 5:30 p.m.
The program will also air on KOAM-TV at 5:30 a.m. Saturday, March 22.
KGCS programming may be seen over the air on digital channel 22, and on regional cable television systems including Cable One, Mediacom and Suddenlink. The station operates as a service of the Department of Communication at Missouri Southern State University.
