An Asbury man was killed in a one-vehicle accident 3:15 a.m. today on Central City Road, two miles west of Joplin.
According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2006 Chevrolet HHR driven by Michael J. Mitchell, 37, Asbury, drove off the right side of the road, struck a culvert and a tree. Mitchell was pronounced dead at 4:38 a.m. at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin, by Dr. Boulware.
The fatality was the 76th this year for Highway Patrol Troop D.
