(From Southern News Service)
Students in the Career Success class at Missouri Southern State University will have the opportunity to participate in mock job interviews with local companies from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, in Ummel Technology Building.
The mock interviews provide students the opportunity to practice their interviewing skills and receive feedback from human resource professionals. It will also give area employers an opportunity to meet Missouri Southern students who are seeking full-time or internship opportunities.
The Career Success class is offered by Missouri Southern’s Engineering Technology Department to help students prepare to enter the workforce. The main objectives are to enhance students’ professional resume and develop interviewing skills. Another important aspect of the class is to establish a “Job Search Central.” This includes a designated space and message center within the student living environment, a professional greeting on their phone and, for some, a major scrub of their social media accounts.
Companies who will participate in the mock interviews are: Able Manufacturing, Joplin; Celltron Inc., Galena, Kan.; 3M, Nevada; Ducommun Inc., Joplin; FAG Bearing, Joplin; Scepter USA, Miami, Okla.; Leggett & Platt, Carthage; EaglePicher Technologies, Joplin; Ferra Aerospace, Grove, Okla.; and the local Missouri Workforce Center.
