The Southern Jazz Combos from Missouri Southern State University will perform at 6 p.m. Friday, April 15, at Gusano’s Pizza, 3929 E. Seventh St.
The performance will feature two student combos performing a variety of selections from the jazz idiom. Songs will include “Night & Day,” “My Favorite Things,” “Bags Groove,” “Our Day Will Come” and many other jazz standards.
Vocalists Lorenda Sumpter and Bailey Park will sing “Summertime,” “Satin Doll,” “Stardust,” “A Nightingale Sang in Berkley Square” and other selections.
“This is an opportunity for people in the community to listen to our jazz combos in a more relaxed atmosphere,” said Dr. Phillip Wise, director of jazz studies.
The performance is free and open to the public; however, those planning to attend are strongly encouraged to make advanced reservations by calling Gusano’s at 417-623-9090. Be sure to request seating near the jazz combos.
