Crowder College weekly update

Academics
·         Priority enrollment for Summer & Fall begins TODAY! April 17 for Sophomores with 28+ hours and April 20 for Freshmen with 1-27 hours. Open enrollment begins May 1. ·         Enrollment is NOW OPEN for the Joplin Advanced Training & Technology Center classes which will start August 21.
·         Programs currently accepting application for Fall 2017 include:
·         The Nursing Programs in Neosho & Cassville are accepting application through August 15 for Spring 2018.
·         Spring 2017 Commencement Ceremonies will be held in the Bob Sneller Gymnasium on the Neosho campus, Saturday, May 20, 10am-General Studies degrees; 1pm – all other degrees and majors.

Athletics
·         The Roughrider Softball team is 44-6 on the season.  They play doubleheaders at home April 17 & 19 at 2&4pm each day, but check the schedule for changes. For a complete schedule go tohttp://crowderathletics.com/sports/sball/2016-17/schedule
·         The Roughrider Baseball team is now 37-9 on the season and ranked #5 in the NJCAA Division I poll (4-11-2017). They will play doubleheaders at home April 22, 1/4pm. For a complete schedule go to: http://crowderathletics.com/sports/bsb/2016-17/schedule

Campus Events

o    MO S&T, Rolla, MO – April 20
·         CTEC Career Fair, April 19, 9am-2pm, Wright Conference Center inside the Arnold Farber Building. Area employers will be on hand.
·         Missouri Alternative & Renewable Energy Technology (MARET) Center students will showcase their projects on the Quad near the Bell Tower Thursday, April 20, from 11am-3pm. Find out what fascinating projects our alternative energy students have been working on this semester.

·         Honors Expo, Friday, April 21, 11am-noon, Lee Library Lobby area. Come visit with the graduating honor students! They will be using the Phi Theta Kappa Honors Topic: “How the World Works: Global Perspectives”. Stop by and ask questions to be entered to win a prize. ·         Fine Arts Week is an event the division hosts showcasing activities and events for students and staff. Check out what will be going on April 24-29. Here is a brief on what will be happening…More information to come:
o    Mon/Wed – noon-1pm: Graphic Design Presentations by Josh Smith (Newton Hall Room 201)
o   Mon/Wed – 1:15-2:15pm: Demonstration Debate by Kristen Stout (EPCC Auditorium)
o   Wed – 9am-2pm: High School Theatre Workshops & Preview Show by NaTasha Davies & Becky Shaw (EPCC)
o    Wed – noon-3pm: Action Art Presentation: Experimental Painting & Clay Experience by Casey Smith & Josh Knott (Newton Hall Lobby outside the Dining Hall)
o    Thurs/Fri/Sat – Production of Ring of Fire, 7:30pm nightly & 2pm matinee on Saturday. Picnic & a play 5:30-activities, 6:30pm-picnic meal & 7:30pm-Performance. Tickets for Picnic & a Play: $15 adults; $6 children (ages 3-12)

Community Events
·         The Agriculture Division/Aggie Club Spring Plant Sale is now underway. There are vegetables, bedding plants, herbs and more available from 10am-3pm Mon-Thurs; 10am-noon on Fri. See what they have to offer at:
·         Ammonia Safety & Training Institute will offer the Ozark Regional Ammonia Safety Day, April 20, 8am-4pm on the McDonald County campus. This course is a free anhydrous ammonia training opportunity for public safety and industrial first responders, hazmat technicians, as well as emergency planners and regulators. ·         Masters of the Vault, Crowder Permanent Art Collection Exhibit in the Longwell Museum, April 10-May 26, 9:00am-6:30pm Monday-Friday (Closed Friday, April 14).  The exhibition is featuring artists such as Daisy Cook, TH Benton and more. These are all pieces in the Crowder Longwell Museum permanent collection.
·         The Friends of the Library will be having its first annual Local Author Symposium on May 5, from 10 am-2:30 pm in Wright Conference Center.  We currently have 12 local authors attending, who will be available for one-on-one conversations, and many will be doing readings from their work.  Authors include: Cynthia Middaugh, Lee Ann Sontheimer Murphy, Kent Farnsworth, Veda Boyd Jones, Paul Herd, Rebecca Haines, Doug Dickey, Dan Trogdon, Rebekah Morris, Nancy Hughes, Michele Hansford, and Cathy Wolven.
