Although Captain Rives has been with Joplin PD for the last 9 1/2 years, he has a total of 18 years of law enforcement experience. He has previously worked for the Webb City Police Department and the Jasper Police Department. While at Joplin PD, Captain Rives has served as a Patrol Officer, Traffic Officer, Patrol Corporal, Patrol Sergeant, Special Enforcement Bureau Sergeant, Internal Affairs Sergeant, and most recently as Captain over the Professional Standards Bureau. Captain Rives as also served as a member of the Chiefs Honor Guard, the Traffic Coalition for Roadway Safety, Leadership Joplin, Tomorrow's Leaders of Today, community event planner, Below 100 instructor, management and executive development from MSHP, accident reconstructionist, advanced crash investigation, Motorcycle school, has his Bachelor and Masters degrees and is a graduate of the Missouri Police Chiefs Command College and arbinger training.

As you can see, the Joplin Police Department is losing someone with vast knowledge, experience and training. While we hate to see Captain Rives leave, we certainly understand him expanding professional development and securing a better financial future for himself and his family. The Southwest Missouri Fraternal Order of Police Regional Lodge #27 and its members want to wish Captain Rives all the best with his future endeavors and thank him for his many years of dedicated service to the citizens of this community.
