Wichita residents injured in accident near Carthage

Two Wichita, Kansas residents were injured in a one-vehicle accident 6:40 a.m. today on Route M, four miles north of Carthage.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2016 International Conventional box truck driven by Jamal W. Surgeon, 21, Wichita, Kansas, ran off the right side of the road, overcorrected, then ran off the left side of the road and overturned.

Surgeon and a passenger, Stacious R. Ward-Swan, 20, Wichita, were treated for minor and moderate injuries, respectively, at Mercy Hospital, Joplin.
