Diligent work by JPD Officer of the Month Ian Allard stopped burglary in progress, recovered stolen property

(From the Joplin Police Department)

On November 18, 2019 a vehicle was stolen, and a report was taken by Officer Flener. Due to Officer Allard paying attention to other officers and what they responded to throughout the night, he knew the description of the stolen car.

By proactively patrolling and watching for this vehicle, he was able to locate the stolen vehicle the same night it was stolen, and it was returned to the owner.

Due to Officer Allard's diligent police work, this victim was able to recover their property with minor loss.

On November 13, 2019 Officer Allard was proactively patrolling. He observed a suspicious vehicle in the alleyway around 21st and Kentucky. He approached to investigate. While doing so, he saw two males run from a garage in the area to the vehicle while carrying items. Officer Allard was able to detain one of the males, but one fled on foot.

During the investigation, it was discovered that the males had been burglarizing the garage. Despite the flight of one of the subjects, and the second subject being uncooperative, Officer Allard was able to identify the second male by conducting a thorough investigation.

Due to Officer Allard's proactive police work and thorough investigation, he was able to interrupt a burglary in progress, arrest one of the burglars and identify the other, and return the victim's stolen property.

Thank you, Officer Allard, for your hard work and dedication.
