A cappella group Voctave to perform at Joplin High School Performing Arts Center

(From Connect2Culture)

Voctave will perform “The Corner of Broadway and Main Street” in Joplin on Sunday, February 2, 7:30pm at Joplin High School Performing Arts Center (2104 Indiana Avenue, Joplin, MO 64804). This is the third performance in Connect2Culture’s 2019-2020 Curtains Up Series.

With a success story like a fairytale, it seems fitting Voctave began at Disney World. All 11 members of this popular a cappella group got their start as Disney’s Voices of Liberty at Epcot Center.

In 2015, the group organized independently to create magical arrangements of classic Disney songs and popular Broadway hits.

By 2016, Voctave’s stunning musical adaptations had earned a well-deserved spot in the limelight. Their arrangements have featured award-winning singers from all genres, including Pentatonix’s Kirstin Maldonado. Today, Voctave’s videos have gone viral, receiving a staggering 100 million views on YouTube/Facebook. With currently four albums, the group continues to create and perform an ever-expanding range of sophisticated a capella music. From gospel to musical theater, contemporary Christian to barbershop, pop to choral specialists – Voctave voices have covered it all.

In addition to the performance, Connect2Culture has arranged a Voctave masterclass for Missouri Southern State University’s Chamber Singers. The masterclass will be held earlier in the day on the campus of Missouri Southern State University. The Chamber Singers will then open for Voctave with two songs they worked on during the masterclass.

Tickets: $25 Orchestra, $20 Mezzanine & Front Balcony, $15 Back Balcony. Discounted package tickets are available. Groups of 10+ receive a 20% discount. Tickets may be purchased at connect2culture.org, 417.501.5550, in-person at Joplin Empire Market on Saturday, Feb. 2 from 10:00am–3:00pm, or at the door.
