Community nursing blood drive set at Missouri Southern

(From Southern News Service)

The Nursing Department at Missouri Southern State University, in conjunction with the American Red Cross, will host a Community Nursing Blood Drive on Thursday, Feb. 6.

The event, part of this semester’s community nursing class, is free and open to the public, and will take place from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. inside Connor Ballroom on the third floor of Billingsly Student Center.

“This not only helps members of our community, it also helps our students,” said Peyton Kessler, clinical nursing instructor at MSSU. “They organize this from beginning to end, so it really gives them the insight on how it’s all put together, not to mention the healthcare benefits.”

This will be the first of two blood drives organized by MSSU nursing students during the Spring 2020 semester. Another one is tentatively scheduled to take place in April.

Those interested are asked to register. They can do so by emailing Kessler at Kessler-p@mssu.edu. They can also contact the American Red Cross at (800) 733-2767 or visit redcrossblood.org and enter the code: MSSJP.
