Joplin Police turns spotlight on Captain Joe Moore, retiring Friday after 20 years with the department

This week's Officer Spotlight is Captain Joe Moore. Captain Moore will retire this Friday January 24th, 2019 after 20 years of service to the Joplin Police Department.

Captain Moore has over 24 years of law enforcement experience and is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of an Infantry Division. 

Captain Moore in his time with JPD has served in Uniformed Operations, Investigations, Professional Standards, and Support Services. Captain Moore also served as a firearms instructor, SWAT officer, field training officer, internal affairs investigator, and training coordinator. Captain Moore holds a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree. 








Captain Moore when asked what he wanted the public to know after 20 years of service to the citizens of Joplin stated “It has been my honor to serve the citizens of this city and I hope I was able to help people in their time of need as well as pass experience knowledge to other members of the police department.” 

Captain Moore as been a great asset to untold numbers of young police officers within our agency. 

Captain Moore who is an avid Chiefs fan is excited that he is retiring, and the Kansas City Chiefs are going to the Super Bowl which is a sign of a bright future!
