Joplin Public Library hires marketing/PR assistant

The Joplin Public Library has announced their appointment of Chelsey Gatewood as their new Public Relations & Marketing Assistant.

Gatewood’s education, work experience and professional skill set make her a noteworthy addition to the Library team. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Communications degree from Pittsburg State University, with an emphasis in advertising and marketing, and is a veteran of the Joplin Public Library. 

She previously worked as a Children’s Library Assistant from 2010 to 2016, before accepting a Public Relations Assistant role for the Carl Junction School District and has been a long-time Library user. 








In addition to working part-time at the Library, Gatewood plans to keep her part-time job with Carl Junction Schools.

“I love this Library, the staff, the patrons, the programs, I truly feel like I’m coming home and feel so fortunate,” said Gatewood. “I can’t wait to re-establish relationships with Library staff and the community.”

Gatewood’s new position comes with a lot of exciting opportunities. She will help implement the Library’s marketing plan, enhance awareness about the Library and strive to build great relationships inside and outside of the Library building. Plus, her plans include making staff members’ staff lives easier, and according to Gatewood, “hopefully a little more fun.”
