Neosho Police Department warns of Social Security scam

(From the Neosho Police Department)

We have received several calls today about the Social Security Administration calling people and telling them they have warrants for their arrest.

The Social Security Administration will not call you on the phone, demand payment via gift cards (or any other way, or issue warrants for your arrest.

If you receive calls, just hang up on them. They are trying to scam you out of money.

Their phone number could look like local numbers. They electronically spoof their numbers to match the local areas they are calling when they are actually overseas.
