A Lamar woman was killed and four people injured in a two-vehicle accident 2:32 p.m. today on Route T, four miles southeast of Lamar.
According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2004 Pontiac Montana driven by Jamie Elizabeth B. Kirch, 27, Lamar, failed to yield and pulled into the path of a 2017 Ram 1500 driven by Jose I. Cabrales, 45, Lamar.
The Kirch vehicle traveled off the east side of the road and overturned. The Cabrales vehicle went off the west side of the roadway and into a field.
Barton County Deputy Coroner Shasta pronounced Kirch dead at the scene.
Three passengers in the Kirch vehicle were flown to Cox South Hospital, Springfield, where Levi D. Brubaker, 29, Lamar, was treated for serious injuries, a 4-year-old girl for moderate injuries and a baby for minor injuries.
Cabrales was treated for serious injuries at Mercy Hospital, Joplin.
The fatality was the 129th this year for Highway Patrol Troop D.
So horrible for the families, hope both families get the help from the community they need.
