According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2006 Toyota Corolla driven by a 17-year-old Neosho girl left the roadway, struck a tree and caught on fire.
Newton County Deputy Coroner Jerry Deems pronounced the girl dead at the scene.
The fatality was the 132nd this year for Highway Patrol Troop D.
