Joplin city offices to be closed December 24, 31, no change in trash pickup dates

In recognition of the Christmas and New Year’s holidays, the City of Joplin offices will be closed on Friday, December 24 and Friday, December 31 and on Christmas and New Year’s Day. This closing includes the Joplin Recycling Center, MAPS and the Sunshine Lamp Trolley services.

Public safety services (Police and Fire Departments), airport operations, and wastewater treatment operations will continue to operate throughout the Christmas and New Year’s holidays, as these departments run 24/7 throughout the year.








City offices, MAPS and the Sunshine Lamp Trolley services will be open and resume their normal operating hours on Monday, December 27 following Christmas weekend, and on Monday, January 3 after the New Year’s holiday. Joplin Recycling Center will resume their normal schedule on Tuesday, December 28 and Tuesday, January 4, 2022.

Residential trash service and curbside recycling schedules do NOT change this year since the holiday falls on a Saturday.

The Joplin City Council meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday, January 3, 2022, as it is the first Monday of the month.
