Jasper Police traffic stop leads to arrest on open container, marijuana charges

(From the Jasper Police Department)

On Tuesday, January 4th, 2022 at 1530 hours, I initiated a traffic stop near the intersection of 3rd St. and Jsckson St., Jasper, Mo, on a Black 2001 Dodge Durango with a Missouri license of 1FFE88. I stopped the vehicle in reference to use turn signal.

I made contact with the driver, Dustin Simpson and the front passenger, Jessie Williams.

While speaking to the occupants, alcohol intoxicants were smelled by the officer. Simpson advised he was about to go pick up his daughter from school.

After questioning, Simpson admitted he had recently consumed alcohol. Simpson pulled an open bottle of Captain Morgan from beside the driver seat. After a search of the vehicle was conducted, a marijuana joint was found.

Simpson was arrested for open container of alcohol by driver and possession of marijuana.

Note: Simpson is presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law.
